COLONIST
Before Raleigh's first birthday, her mother and father picked up and moved to the Attican Traverse to a small human colony called Mindoir. There they settled down as meager farmers and lived their life happily, even giving birth a few years later to a healthy baby boy.SOLE SURVIVOR
When Raleigh was only sixteen the colony was attacked by Batarian slavers and many of the colonists died. Shepard luckily escaped with only a few broken bones. She enlisted in the Alliance a few years later.

Shortly after being promoted Shepard's first task was to investigate the radio silence of a newly established colony on Akuze. Preliminary findings upon arrival were baffling when the Alliance Marine unit found the intact settlement with no survivors. Though the data was troubling, the team was forced to camp for the night, only to be set upon by Thresher Maws. Unprepared, the unit was slaughted and Shepard was the only marine to make it back to the landing zone.

tone of voice sharp, clear, occasionally edgy.

clothing style when's she on shore leave, Shepard can typically be found in some version of a t-shirt and jeans, always accompanied by her father's old leather jacket. she wears little to no jewelry on a regular basis. if she gets dressed up, she almost always has to seek someone else out to know what to wear.

When she was fifteen, a stray pack of darkspawn attacked the village, razing it to the ground. She and her father had been out hunting that morning and when they approached close, he had Raleigh climb a tree and shoot any that she could from up there. When he didn’t return and the darkspawn left, she rushed into the village to find that no one had made it. With a heavy heart and empty pockets, she set out to Val Royeaux to enlist in the Orlesian military since the only thing she could offer at that point would be her archery. Not to mention there wasn’t anything tying her down at this point. To survive until enlistment, she resorted to slight of hand, slipping food and money into her own pockets from those who would not miss it. And when she was sixteen, she was officially a soldier.
After she spent years serving the military diligently she was recruited into the Wardens which she damn near didn’t survive joining their ranks. She spent a small amount of time at Adamant before she was moved to the Anderfels for further training. It was there she heard the news of Ostagar, and immediately she and other Wardens were sent to aid Ferelden. Fortunately, they arrived at Denerim just in time for the Landsmeet.
After the Blight, Shepard continued to give herself to the cause. Traveling around Southern Thedas to seal off any openings to the Deep Roads and taking care of any Darkspawn that may have been lingering on the edge of civilization.
With the rise of status and power within the Wardens, Shepard eventually returned to Weisshaupt to navigate the politics within the Order and is not seen in Thedas until the Inquisition lays siege upon Adamant Fortress.

Realism, probably. At first, the nagging in the back of Shepard's mind about how something wasn't right were annoying and she could ignore them. But the long the charade went on the more she knew that something was wrong. She didn't say anything to her husband for a long time, deciding that her paranoia was unjustified and while he would be supportive and help her work through things, she didn't want to bother him. But the longer it went on the louder the voice got in the back of her head. When she finally did bring it up to Kaidan, he brushed it off, told Shepard that she was probably just stressed and needed time off work and that's when she knew it was all a lie.
She grew increasingly more paranoid as time went on, unsure who was real and who was a generated program. The more paranoia she harbored the more her husband seemed to dissuade it and around the fifth time he told her she was just stressed and needed a day off from work instead of investigating the issue with her like the real Kaidan would have, a pit of dread began to build in the pit of her stomach.
More than anything in the world, Shepard wanted her instincts to be wrong for once. She wanted him to be alive and she wanted to go back to their home.
What she got was a haze coming down over her eyes and her senses coming back to life. The click of a pressurized release, the sudden warmth of coming out of cryogenic stasis, and the murmur of panicked voices as people began to relized what Tranquility Lane really was. Shepard had known. She knew and instead of rolling out of the lounge chair, she kept her hands folded while everyone else talked to the person who'd rescued them from stasis and when no one else was watching, she disappeared from the vault.
Following the events that transpired at Vault 112, Shepard began self medicating to keep the nightmares and hallucinations at bay. The culture shock of outside the vault compared to what it had been in Tranquility Lane was stark, and most days she didn't want to deal with it, but she spent most of her time wandering, looking for the vault that Kaidan could have been in. Eventually she found herself in the Commonwealth in search of the Institute, or someone that could help her find archives of records that might indicate where he could be.
